It has been almost six weeks since Hurricane Ian made landfall in Florida. It has brought devastation to numerous areas in Southwest Florida. We have watched many newscast and YouTube videos showing Hurricane Ian's destruction. They are heart-wrenching to watch. The hardest hit areas were the towns of Ft. Myers Beach, Ft. Myers, and Cape Coral. We have heard of many of our friends and families that were impacted hard from Hurricane Ian. HCNSYC has many Members both present and past that are now permanent residents or snowbirds in these areas affected by Hurricane Ian. we know that some of them were very lucky and lost very little. Others have a lot or restoration to be done.
We have learned of Past HCNSYC Board Member, Lee Jones and his Lady Pam, who have lost everything from Hurricane Ian's destruction along with their house catching on fire. Lee, a Vietnam veteran, was diagnosed with cancer the end of July. Pam was diagnosed with ALS about a year ago. Needless to say, they have been through a lot lately. Therefore, it has been motioned, approved, and voted on that the funds raised at Frostbite of $275.00 will be donated to Past Commodore, Lee Jones and his Lady Pam.
If you would like to donate on your own, a GoFundMe website has been set-up by Maryann Weeden at https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-lee-and-pam-in-their-time-of-need
