May 30, 2020: Updates on HCNSYC Meetings/Events and (COVID-19)

HCNSYC Members:

Good Morning to all our HCNSYC Members!  I hope this email finds everyone staying safe and healthy.  It has been a little over two months since I have sent any updates or information to you.  I truly apologize for that.  This is not how your Commodore wants to lead this Yacht Club, act or be as we all have had our moments dealing with the whole COVID-19 situation during these unprecedented times.  I’m grateful that a lot of you have reached out to me and let me know how you’re doing.  The health and well-being of everyone is our first concern during the coronavirus situation.  Please continue to take this situation seriously.  We encourage you to adhere to the guidelines for your health, safety and the well-being of others.  Social distancing should be practiced if you need to go out and about.  Don’t forget to take your mask with you as well.

Even though we have set in place to eliminate email addresses as of April 30th for those Members who haven’t renewed their Membership, I’m extending this rule for a few more weeks.  We have 77 Members who have already renewed their Membership.  Thank you for those Members!  I have attached a 2020 HCNSYC Membership form for your convenience.  I have been checking the Post Office Box regularly.

Due to the extended Stay at Home Order now until June 12, 2020, HCNSYC Board has had to cancel our April 14th, May 12th and June 9th Membership meeting.  Also, the Clubhouses at Harbor Club North and South are not accessible at this time.  The June Membership meeting maybe moved to a later date.  The HCNSYC Board will keep you posted on upcoming Events and Meetings.  Keep watching your email for further communication updates.

Also due to the extended Stay at Home Order, we’ve had to cancel the following Events that were to take place:

· Blessing of the FleetSunday, May 17, 2020, at Harbor Club North Clubhouse.  We’re still working on another way to still hold this Event.

· This weekend—ABYA Spring Dinner DanceFriday, May 29 – Sunday, 31, 2020 at NCYC.  This was always a great turnout by our Yacht Club with 10 boats attending along with an average of 30 Members.  We all looked forward to starting off the boating season with this first Rendezvous.  Our Members made this an awesome Event.  The weather this weekend has reminded us of past year’s weather—rainy and Northern winds giving us cooler temperatures!  HCNSYC Members never hesitated to make this a great event—

o With the gatherings on Friday night.

o Saturday morning Group Breakfast.  We have some awesome cooks!  Scott Wittman, I would have remembered the sour cream for the Potato Pancakes this year!

o Our Events wouldn’t be the same without our Saturday afternoon Sip and Dip.  What a variety of different Sips and very tasty Dips.

o Enjoying the NCYC facility and all they have to offer along with the ladies favorite time when they announce, “The Boutique is now open for shopping!”

o Complimentary Cocktail Hour by ABYA before a short meeting and a delicious buffet style of food.  The dancing was cut short due to the weather last year and the safety concern of those returning to the mainland via the Finrunner.

o HCNSYC Members did win some great prizes in the raffles.

I’m hoping we can all gather soon as I miss seeing all of you.

If you’re out on the water taking in the sunshine, please be a responsible boater and be aware of the high water all around us.  Flooding is definitely all around us again this year.

Lastly, if you have anyone you’d like to put on our prayer list at this time, please send their name to our email address and I’ll forward it onto our Membership.  With that in mind, please keep in your prayers:

· All family members that you’re not able to visit along with those in Assisted Living facilities or Nursing facilities.

· All First Responders and Health Care Workers, who are working around the clock to keep us safe and working hard to keep us healthy.  Along with any Frontline Workers keeping us going and strong.

Everyone take care and be safe.  We’re all in this together and we’ll all get through this together as well.  Together we’ll be strong.  If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Sincerely until I can see all of you again in person,

Sue Merony, Commodore

HCNSYC
